Schwarzkopf Professional - Together. A passion for hair
Tyler Johnston

Combining technique and adventurous creativity, Tyler Johnston’s work is immediately recognisable. He has been featured in some of the world’s most fêted international glossy magazines and his much talked about haircuts for private clients include the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Cate Blanchett and Lily Allen.

Beginning as a stylist at Vidal Sassoon in the creative hotbed of 80’s Manchester, Tyler progressed rapidly up the ladder, culminating in a move to London where he became Art Director at Sasoon’s prestigious Knightsbridge salon. After six years in this high-profile position, working on seasonal collections and TV commercials, Tyler left to pursue a freelance path, which has established him as one of the industry’s most sought-after session stylists.

Lesley began her career in 1984 at a renowned London hair academy and spent 18 years travelling the globe working on shows, seminars and advertising. Lesley then joined the fabulous Real salon, where she tends to a high-profile clientele that includes Gwyneth Paltrow and Elle Macpherson.

Her radical vision and flair for colour took her from Vidal Sassoon apprenticeship to global recognition and has made her the ‘go to’ name on every celebrity’s lips for unsurpassed colour genius. Lesley, who is very well-dressed herself, has also worked on fashion shows for the likes of John Richmond, Raf Simons and Alexander McQueen.

Richard Ashforth

Renowned for his creativity and exceptional eye for detail, Richard Ashforth is widely recognised as one of the UK’s most accomplished stylists. His belief is simply to celebrate the individual through his “beauty first” approach. Starting his career with the illustrious Vidal Sassoon, Richard then went on to establish his own international hairdressing brand, SACO, in 2005, with educational academies and salons positioned across the globe. Defined as ‘success’ in Japanese, SACO also means ‘detail’ – describing Richard’s precision cutting-style perfectly!

Frequently working with some of the greatest names on the International fashion scene, from countless Fashion Week shows to photoshoots alongside Peter Lindbergh, David Bailey and American & British Vogue, Richard has also created his own guerrilla-style hair show – NOISE – an underground event which has travelled the world and always brings a new level of energy and suspense to the fast-paced world of hairdressing.

He is a true believer in pushing the boundaries of conventional colour design and techniques in pursuit of authentic style inventions, whilst wholly committed to delivering commercial reality on the salon floor.

Commencing his 4 year apprenticeship in 1986, Matt joined industry stalwart Bennie Tognini in 1990 at the Queensland salon powerhouse Togninis. From this high performing environment, Matt built a strong foundation of knowledge, skill and technical execution. Matt also developed a fervent passion for education and was selected to join Bennie for the first ever Redken Symposium in 1993, held in Las Vegas. Following his years at Togninis, Matt took a 3 1/2-year sabbatical in Europe to satiate an ongoing appetite for architectural design inspiration, pursue his music career while also continuing his hairdressing journey. In 2009, Matt was chosen to champion the launch of ESSENSITY, Schwarzkopf Professionalʻs range of natural colour, care and styling products. This appointment secured Matt as a key spokesperson for Schwarzkopf in both trade and consumer media, as well as identify him as someone of environmental consciousness and an operator of ethical business practice.

Matt, a Global Colour Ambassador for Schwarzkopf Professional since 2010, is firmly saluted as a stand out colour technician with a worldclass ability to translate fashion house collections into trend inspired hair colour designs.

For the last three years Matt Clements has been granted the prestigious Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Australian Colour Technician of the Year Award.
